See your complete financial picture.

Summa is a personal finance tracker for iPhone that brings expenses, income, investments, transfers, balances, and budgets into one clear, private view.

Daily tracking

Record expenses, income, investment contributions, and transfers as individual transactions.

One overview

Keep Cash, Card, and Investments visible alongside monthly income and spending.

Getting started

  1. Set your starting balancesOpen Settings and enter your current Card and Cash balances. Choose the currency symbol you want Summa to display.
  2. Create your categoriesAdd the expense and income categories that match the way you manage money. Transactions may also remain uncategorized.
  3. Record transactionsUse the add action to enter an expense, income, investment contribution, or transfer. Amounts are stored as individual records with their actual dates.
  4. Review your monthUse Home and transaction history to understand income, spending, investments, and category progress. Tap a transaction to edit or delete it.

Backup and restore

Create a backup

In Summa, open Settings → Data → Export Backup. Summa creates a ZIP archive containing CSV files for your transactions, categories, balance history, and Home card preferences. Choose where to save or share the file using the iOS share sheet.

Restore a backup

Open Settings → Data → Restore Backup and choose a Summa ZIP file. Review the backup summary, then confirm the restore. Restoring replaces the financial data currently stored in the app, so create a fresh backup first if you may need it.

Keep backup files private. A Summa ZIP backup contains readable CSV data and is not password-protected or encrypted by Summa. Store it only in a location you trust.

Private by design

Summa works without an account, login, cloud backend, bank connection, advertising, or analytics. Your financial records stay in the app's private storage on your device. Summa only creates an external copy when you choose to export a backup and select a destination.

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Summa has no account system or login.

Does Summa connect to my bank?

No. Summa does not connect to banks, brokers, exchanges, or other financial services. You enter and manage your own records.

Does changing the currency convert my amounts?

No. The currency setting changes the symbol used for display. Summa does not fetch exchange rates or convert stored amounts.

Are investment contributions counted as expenses?

No. Summa tracks investment contributions separately from expenses so spending totals stay accurate. It does not track market prices or individual securities.

Do transfers change my income or spending?

No. Transfers between Card and Cash move your own money and are excluded from income, expenses, investments, savings, and cash-flow totals.

What happens if I delete the app?

Deleting the app can remove its locally stored data. Export a backup before deleting the app, changing devices, or making changes you may want to reverse.
